3. Coby White will contribute earlier than anticipated
There should be a ton of building excitement surrounding the Chicago Bulls rookie former North Carolina Tar Heels 6-foot-5 point guard Coby White. A lot of the Las Vegas Summer League outings for White were awesome, as were his numbers throughout the preseason. Boylen could have a truly special guard on his hands with a potential All-Star future.
White averaged 19.2 points per game, 4.2 rebounds, 1.0 assists, on 45.5 shooting from the field and 43.2 percent from three-point range. The limited assist numbers were a tad bit problematic for White, but he does have ample time to iron those out. Boylen should be very patient with whatever time and attention White needs through his development this season.
Where White really excelled was on the defensive end of the floor stopping the opposition in transition, leading vocally, and grabbing a good amount of defensive boards. His shooting numbers were also good, as was his efficiency from the free-throw line. He shot better than 75 percent from the charity stripe, but it would be advantageous for him to get to the line more often.
White showed a lot of promise thus far in a Bulls uniform. This could be a pretty solid rookie class for the Bulls for a long time, and GarPax might’ve found their point guard solution for the future by drafting White seventh overall back in June. He looks fantastic with this team so far.
