Chicago Bulls: Grading the 2019 offseason moves
Cumulative Offseason Grade: B+
The Chicago Bulls had as good of a 2019 offseason that they realistically could have had. In reality, no major free agents were coming to Chicago, they weren’t major trade market players, and their luck in the lottery was not great. However, the Bulls still managed to find a way to make a small splash this summer, and the league took notice.
What the Bulls did establish this summer is that they believe that they are done with the rebuilding process and expect to become a playoff contender this season, which is not too irrational of a thought.
The Bulls have a very solid young core, as almost anyone would agree with. However, this team has lacked solid veteran presence throughout this process, which is vital to postseason success. This offseason’s moves were not in the direction of getting younger across the board, but rather going after the best players that were realistic options to take their talents to Chicago.
Whether this is the year the Chicago Bulls will make the playoffs or not is unclear. However, this year they should at least put up a fight to do so. If not, there may be a different narrative as to how this rebuild went. This team has a lot to prove in 2019-2020, but this offseason certainly helped them take a step in the right direction.
