Chicago Bulls: Grading the 2019 offseason moves
After a long and busy NBA summer, the entire league looks very different, and this includes the Chicago Bulls after a number of moves.
Unfortunately, the Chicago Bulls did not have as exciting of an offseason as teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers, the New Orleans Pelicans, and Brooklyn Nets. However, this is not necessarily a bad thing. It was clear that the Bulls were not going to be in on the Kawhi Leonard or Kevin Durant sweepstakes, and the team’s poor luck in the lottery meant neither of the Duke superstar freshman nor Ja Morant would be taking their talents to Chicago.
Indeed, it would have been nice to land a top-five NBA player or even have had mediocre luck in the lottery, however, the Bulls simply had to play with the cards they were dealt. Even with this mediocre hand, many saw the Bulls offseason as a successful one, adding multiple solid rookies and veterans to the mix in the Windy City.
As the NBA season creeps closer and closer and the offseason draws to an end, it is time to take a look at how John Paxson and Gar Forman did as it pertains to player acquisitions this summer. Many Bulls fans are calling for the team to make the playoffs now, as they are sick of the rebuilding process and losing basketball games night in and night out.
Only time will tell if this offseason was a step back towards postseason success or if it means merely another year picking in the lottery.
