1. Bulk season for Wendell Carter Jr.

One of my favorite parts of media day is seeing how different each player looks physically. Once these guys get into the NBA and start working diligently on their training and diet, there’s a visible improvement.

There were a lot of guys that looked bigger than they were last year. Lauri and Zach both noticeably bulked up. But holy smokes – Wendell Carter Jr. came out looking massive.

Boylen made an interesting comment about Carter when he took the stage.

"“Wendell Carter is 273 pounds. He’s six percent body fat,” said Boylen. “That tells you he’s put some work in.”"

Then, when it was Wendell’s turn to take the stage, Boylen’s comments came to life. He’s much beefier than he was last season – in a good way.

Carter was already an elite defensive big man, but with added weight and strength, he should be able to hold his own in the post. He’s going to be tasked with guarding guys like Joel Embiid, Anthony Davis and Nikola Jokic, so strength is of the utmost importance.

Carter’s added muscle should also help him get to his spots on the offensive end of the floor. I can’t wait to see Wendell go to work this season. He’s primed to make a huge leap.
