The outlier here that the Chicago Bulls could realistically grab in the 2020 NBA Draft is the to-be Kentucky Wildcats freshman wing Kahlil Whitney. The former five-star top 15 rated 2019 high school prospect in the nation will have all eyes on him as he tries to develop his game under legendary head coach John Calipari in Lexington.
Whitney stands at 6-foot-7 and still needs to get above 200 pounds. His frame is still rather thin, and he needs to bulk up before his quick style of play can truly shine. He’s got a ton of vertical ability and his length will draw more attention to him on defense. That is as long as the off-ball awareness sticks in college.
As potentially one of the most athletic wings in this draft class, Whitney carries more intrigue with him than just about any other three that could be taken around picks 12-20. If he shines at Kentucky during his freshman campaign, he could wind up as a late teens or early twenties draft pick in 2020. The possibility could even be there that he returns to Kentucky for one more season.
The two-way skill set for Whitney is there, but there’s areas of his offensive game that need work. He is very turnover prone and could work on his distributing ability and shot selection when the offense is settled. But the versatility in his game to score from almost anywhere on the offensive end along with solid skill in transition makes him a very appealing draft prospect for the Bulls.
