2. Will smarts of GarPax continue?
Dating back to before the start of the NBA offseason, the Chicago Bulls had a front office that was actually functional that could build up a roster through the draft and free agency. While the Bulls have a good resume in terms of scouting for the NBA Draft, free agency is usually a bummer with a host of confounding signings.
Two examples of the confounding signings within the last three years for the Bulls were the future Hall-of-Fame shooting guard (who was washed out at and often injured at the time) Dwyane Wade back in 2016 and former lottery pick and forward Jabari Parker. Both Wade and Parker didn’t make it past one season in a Bulls uniform.
However, the three free agent signings for the Bulls were all solid and could help a legitimate playoff push this season. The NBA Draft also brought in two players that could contribute in a positive way in the next two or three years. Former Arkansas Razorbacks big man Daniel Gafford is likely to contribute at a high level off the bench faster than White, though.
The trade deadline also saw GarPax make a good move to add the roster for the long-term with the addition of former Washington Wizards small forward Otto Porter Jr. GarPax was also able to dump off the contract of Parker and avoid overpaying fellow forward Bobby Portis in the process.
