5. What’s Coby White’s role from the start?
This is one of the biggest storylines and question marks for the Chicago Bulls simultaneously heading into Training Camp and the preseason. The first round pick of the Bulls in the 2019 NBA Draft, former North Carolina Tar Heels point guard Coby White, is a talent worth following for any basketball fan.
From the get go, Boylen might take it easy on the role White finds himself in. The Bulls are pretty stocked at the one right now between a trio of point guards all more experienced and proven than the rookie White. That trio includes Ryan Arcidiacono, Kris Dunn, and the recently signed former Washington Wizards standout Tomas Satoransky.
The Bulls could also work the defensive standout combo guard and recently re-signed Shaquille Harrison into the rotation, which would take minutes away from White. Letting his game develop further than what the fans saw from him in the Las Vegas Summer League is important this season.
Taking it slow and patient with White’s development from day one this coming season seems like the right move. The best rookie point guards last season took until the second half of the year to get going (e.g. Trae Young and Collin Sexton). White could fit into a similar narrative during his rookie season.
