The Dallas Mavericks would usually make for an interesting trade partner with the Chicago Bulls just due to the fact that they have good management and coaching. The Mavericks are a solid example for the Chicago Bulls to learn from, and actually have a developing situation that’s pretty similar to what’s brewing in the Windy City.
While the Mavericks are trying to build around a young guard/wing in Luka Doncic and the former New York Knicks star 7-foot-3 forward Kristaps Porzingis, the Bulls have a similar setup. The Bulls are building around a potential budding star at the two in LaVine and a seven-footer at forward in Lauri Markkanen.
However, the Bulls would be able to nab two intriguing pieces from the Mavericks in shooting guard Courtney Lee and small forward Justin Jackson. Since the Bulls have to take on a good amount of money in the form of Lee’s contract worth around $12 million annually, they get to send the bulky forward Cristiano Felicio to Dallas.
Felicio carries slightly over $8 million with his remaining contract. But the Mavericks might also be more willing to waive him since they get the $12 million from Lee off the books. For their troubles, the Bulls also send their 2020 second round draft pick to stack future assets.
