Chicago Bulls: Resetting final 2019 free agency big board
Unlike a wing option for the Chicago Bulls like Stauskas, former San Antonio Spurs forward Dante Cunningham hasn’t signed down with a team overseas yet. Cunningham last played in the NBA with the Spurs for 68 games last season. In total, he’s played for nine different teams over the course of the past decade.
Much like Stauskas, Cunningham is an NBA journeyman that likely wouldn’t find a permanent home in the Windy City. But the fact that he can contribute on both ends of the floor and arrive with the Bulls likely for a veteran’s minimum deal should be appealing for Boylen and GarPax.
The down side to signing Cunningham would be the fact that he has a very set ceiling. At 32-years-old, most big time NBA fans know what to expect out of the veteran Cunningham. This would also be the first stint for Cunningham in the Windy City. He could then take the number of NBA teams he’s played for to double-digits.
The 6-foot-8 11th-year forward could be a good fit for the Bulls off the bench in a role behind former Indiana Pacers standout Thaddeus Young. Cunningham would be a natural fit in this rotation, and wouldn’t be a very high-risk option. He has around 25 career win shares and shot an insane 46.2 percent from beyond the arc last season. This sounds appealing in some ways.
