4. Split time on the wing between Denzel Valentine and Zach LaVine

The Chicago Bulls don’t have much time to figure out how to configure the rotation if Hutchison is going to miss a significant stretch of games this coming season. The beginning of the 2019-20 regular season is coming in less than a month and a half. And the valued time that Hutchison could get during the preseason might be gone.

Keeping Hutchison healthy and ready to go for a key stretch of games early in the regular season makes for a shift in priorities for Boylen and this Bulls coaching staff. Even with the struggles that Hutchison had during Summer League, he’s an important piece of the young core deeper down the bench. He was a first round pick that might’ve received a draft promise from the Bulls last year.

A good option for the Bulls to utilize newfound versatility in the rotation could be moving shooting guards like Zach LaVine and Valentine between the two and three spots. LaVine definitely has the vertical ability and offensive versatility in his skill set to spark the scoring off the wing. Valentine can also help space the floor from the three if he keeps healthy.

Another option that could play more at the three if he shows more shooting efficiency from the outside this season is the former Indiana Pacers forward Thaddeus Young. If the Bulls are putting a lineup that features Luke Kornet, Carter Jr., Lauri Markkanen, and/or Daniel Gafford out on the floor at once, then Thad could play at the three.
