No. 2 Anthony Davis

Now it is time to get down to PLAN A.

Either of the next two players would transform the Bulls into a title contender, especially if the young core develops as expected. Let’s start with Anthony Davis.

Davis just signed on to the Laker’s LeBron project for the 2019/20 season. They will be a team competing for a championship with at least five other teams in the Western Conference capable of knocking them off.

Playing with Lebron James in the Staples Center will be a big step into prime time for the super star Davis. He suffered through seven seasons playing with poorly constructed rebuilding teams while in New Orleans.

James has always been a hard teammate to please. The Lakers also just finished a year in disarray where James did not even make the playoffs. Davis signed a deal that allows him to bolt after one year if there are greener pastures elsewhere.

Chicago may be just that place. Davis is a product of Chicago. He ended his high school career ranked the number one player in the national class of 2011. Former Bull, Jalen Rose has already expressed he would not be surprised if Davis comes home.

Davis is only 26 years old. Assuming things work out with LeBron and he stays two years in Los Angeles, he will still only be 28 years old in the summer of 2021. There will be many teams in play for Davis. A max contract is a given. The Bulls are eagerly awaiting the day they can offer him one.
