What to do with Dunn moving forward?

The issue with moving on from Dunn is that for the team that will trade for him, it will be a very low-risk, high reward deal. Dunn’s trade value is unbelievably low right now, and very arguably much lower than it should be.

The latest rumor swirling about with Dunn came from Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic, who stated he would “be surprised” if the Bulls weren’t rid of the point guard by media days on Sep. 31.

There is no doubt that some team will be interested in landing a former top-five selection who is still on a rookie deal at a low price. Even putting aside pure potential, Dunn is still a productive player in the correct role. He may never be an NBA starter, but he can be a very valuable bench piece who can anchor a reserve group at a high level.

As for the Bulls, his return is going to be next to nothing and well under what he is worth. The logical thing to do would be to have him play a few games next season and get his trade value up, but with the number of point guards the Bulls have on the roster, this does not appear to be in play.
