Chicago Bulls: Players that could surprisingly win KIA NBA Award
By Abe Rotbart
No. 1 NBA Coach of the Year
When he first took over as head coach, Jim Boylen quickly and even shockingly to some, brought the entire team back to basics. His demands were hard play, teamwork and seriousness. His so-called “high school” tactics were mocked by the press and questioned by players.
After Otto Porter Jr. arrived, there was a team wide attitude shift and the potential to build something fresh became apparent. By seasons end, there were fans willing to come out of the shadows and admit, they like Boylen. Despite the lopsided losses, players were playing respectfully hard.
Unless a team acquires a top ten player it is rare that they improve more than a few games from season to season. Even though no superstar talent was added, the team was injury prone last year and we may see a major jump in wins.
If at least two players qualify for one of the awards above, and the team makes the playoffs, media darling Jim Boylen may have a shot to be the Kia NBA Coach of the Year.
You never know.
That is why we play the game.
