Chicago Bulls: Players that could surprisingly win KIA NBA Award
By Abe Rotbart
No. 5 Kia NBA Rookie of the Year:
The thing about the NBA draft is that it’s all about potential. How often do we hear that Stephen Curry was drafted number 7 and Donovan Mitchell number 13?
We get it. There is a chance, whatever it may be, that Coby White turns out to be the next Curry or Mitchell.
Everyone expects big things from Zion Williamson and Ja Morant. Yet, countless top picks for various reasons, did not meet expectations, while lessor sought after rookies transformed teams into contenders.
Betting that Coby White, a seventh overall draft pick, lights up the league is not out of the question. The all-time leading scorer in North Carolina high school basketball history and a former North Carolina Mr. Basketball, White has excelled at every level. At UNC it was not long before he took over the offense and became the leading freshman scorer in school history.
If he can move into the starting spot around game twenty and lead the young Bulls to the playoffs, Coby White may surprise us and bring home this award.
