It looks as if the Chicago Bulls rookie sensation point guard Coby White could be down to two shoe deals to potentially sign with.

The former North Carolina Tar Heels star freshman point guard Coby White is facing a big rookie campaign with the Chicago Bulls after he was selected seventh overall in the 2019 NBA Draft. The Bulls were fortunate to fill a positional need and nab a player that is popular with the fan base by drafting White at seven.

Part of the hype of entering a rookie season in the NBA for a talent like White is signing a shoe deal. Nick DePaula of ESPN reported that White could have interest coming his way both from Adidas and the Jordan brand. One of those names sticks out in an obvious way.

Both Adidas and Jordan brand have historic ties to the Bulls. Former superstar Bulls point guard Derrick Rose was a transcendent talent and a polarizing figure in the NBA back in the early 2010’s. Part of that polarizing nature of D-Rose was the shoe deal he signed with Adidas. The “adiRose” and “D-Rose” shoe lines were one of the most popular throughout the early 2010’s.

Could White become the most popular athlete in terms of kicks for the Bulls since D-Rose? It wouldn’t be a difficult feat since the Bulls had a lame run of guards throughout the middle part of the decade. And D-Rose had at least semi-popular shoes all the way through the end of this past regular season.

However, the decision that White is facing between Adidas and Jordan has forces swaying him to both sides. The Tar Heels are a Jordan brand school that White often wore Jordan kicks from the CP3 line. Recently acquired Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Chris Paul is also a product of an ACC school (Wake Forest Demon Deacons) and a native of North Carolina.

If White wants to keep the same line of shoes he wore in his one season at UNC, he could stay with the Jordan brand. He would also get to join the trend of signing with the Jordan brand that the first overall 2019 NBA Draft pick and former Duke Blue Devil Zion Williamson started.

A significant former Bulls point guard like D-Rose could be an intriguing line for White to follow to signing a deal with Adidas. His new Bulls teammate and shooting guard Zach LaVine is also with Adidas as is former Chicago center Robin Lopez.

All in all, it just seems like it makes more sense for Coby to join up with Jordan over Adidas. He gets to stick with the tradition of a North Carolina guard starting his NBA career with the Bulls that MJ started back in the 1980’s. He also rocked the pink Jordan shoes last season with the Tar Heels and could continue to develop his shoe game with the Bulls with the same brand.

Other notable Jordan brand athletes that White would join up with if he signs includes Jimmy Butler, Otto Porter Jr., Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, and Kemba Walker. The best that Adidas has to offer in the world of basketball right now is Trae Young, Kristaps Porzingis, Damian Lillard, and James Harden.
