It feels like the intricacies of a deal between the Pistons and the Chicago Bulls for a Blake Griffin swap would have to also involve Doumbouya if it is only going to be these two teams in the trade. The Pistons just don’t have that many assets freed up since they made so many moves in free agency, on the waiver wire, and in the draft.

However, if the Bulls could land another player that can space the floor like the former Duke Blue Devils shooting guard Luke Kennard, this deal becomes more enticing. What GarPax actually did well this summer was helping out players like Wendell and Lauri space the floor on offense with a much more capable and versatile supporting cast.

Bringing Blake into the Bulls frontcourt does mean that either Markkanen or Carter Jr. would have to take a good amount of reduced playing time this coming season. Yet, the Bulls could send off Carter Jr. and pair Blake alongside Markkanen in a pretty intriguing duo for the right return.

In this trade package in particular, the Bulls are sending Porter Jr. and Carter Jr. to the Pistons along with fourth-year point guard Kris Dunn for a return of Blake, Sekou, and Kennard. The Bulls get the excitement of a very promising rookie like Doumbouya, around a 40 percent three-point shooter like Kennard, and a bona fide star with Griffin.
