Chicago Bulls: NBA power rankings for all 30 teams
By Luke Askew
1. Los Angeles Clippers
Who would’ve thought one year ago that the Clippers would be the best team in the league heading into the 2019-2020 season? But Kawhi Leonard choosing to go to the Clippers (and coaxing Paul George to come with him) immediately puts the Clippers among the NBA’s elite teams. What launches them to the very top of the power rankings, though, is their supporting cast.
Can you think of better role players to play alongside Leonard and George than Patrick Beverley, Lou Williams, Montrezl Harrell and Landry Shamet?
Beverly is a pit bull; he works hard, he defends at a high level and he can shoot the three. Harrell is another guy who brings consistent energy; he can defend, rebound and score around the rim. Williams is the best bench player in the league and one of the best clutch scorers in the game. Shamet is a knockdown shooter and an underrated defender.
What I love most about the Clippers’ supporting cast is they all know their roles. No one tries to do too much.
The Clippers will probably do a lot of “load management” during the regular season with Leonard and George, but at full strength, there isn’t a better team in the NBA.
