As trade season continues for the Chicago Bulls, a deal that was previously discussed with the Phoenix Suns was to bring in the former top five overall draft pick Josh Jackson in exchange for Dunn. Since landing with the Grizzlies, Jackson still had the conversation going as to where he could land that would help him get on the right track in the NBA.

The former Kansas Jayhawks five-star talent Jackson didn’t find a home in Phoenix, hence why he was sent to Memphis for a pretty abysmal return. He was mainly just one chip in a deal that was more important than what he brought to the table.

Yet, this exchange between the Bulls and Grizzlies is pretty equal in salary. Jackson still has a few years left on his rookie contract, where he is paid a little more than $7 million annually. Dunn is owed around $5.5 million this coming season. The cause that is righting the ship for Jackson isn’t close to a lost cause entering his third-year in the NBA.

Jackson improved his shooting from beyond the arc (up around five percent from his rookie season), facilitating ability, and off-the-ball defense during the 2018-19 campaign. He averaged 11.5 points per game, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists with the Suns. But he started in just 29 of the 79 games he played in Phoenix last season.
