5. Shaquille Harrison and Walt Lemon Jr. were cut too early

One game into this Vegas Summer League circuit for the Chicago Bulls, the news came down that the point guard duo of Lemon Jr. and Shaquille Harrison were waived from the team. Lemon Jr. hung around to play in the rest of the games, that only resulted in one win. But Harrison didn’t play in any game after beating the Lakers.

In his second stint in Summer League, Lemon Jr. finished up with only 4.0 points per game, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.75 assists. He registered one more turnover per game than he had assists. Shooting 33 percent from the field and well under 70 percent from the free-throw line wrapped up a poor showing in general for him.

However, there wasn’t much motivation for Lemon Jr. to excel at all to impress the Bulls front office after he was released. He was playing for a potential two-way contract elsewhere. The skill set that he showed last season as a natural scorer off the bench for a third unit possibly is still something another NBA team could take a chance on.

There was not near enough game action involving Harrison for other NBA teams to work with to gauge if he’ll get a contract outside the Windy City.

It could be an idea to look into for the Bulls to bring back either Lemon Jr. or Harrison with the G-League affiliate Windy City Bulls. But neither was particularly impressive, or even present, since they were waived so early in this Summer League run.
