It’s so interesting that the Chicago Bulls, a team that is assumed to use traditional basketball tactics to assemble a full rotation, went with pure opposite roster pieces than they had last season. Boylen and the Bulls were able to replace veteran center Robin Lopez in the frontcourt rotation with a center that really is just a decent rim protector and shoots three-pointers in bunches.

The former New York Knicks rotational center Luke Kornet was a very underrated free agent signing for the Bulls. He deserves solid minutes in the Bulls rotation without a doubt. Any seven-footer that plays in the frontcourt and can excel in specific aspects of his game on both ends of the floor deserves quality minutes off the bench.

Kornet will slot behind pieces of the Bulls young core in the frontcourt like second-year center Wendell Carter Jr. and third-year power forward Lauri Markkanen. He’ll bring another aspect to this Bulls offensive arsenal, as a three-point shooter that can hit his looks at around a 36 percent clip.

The Bulls have not yet officially signed Kornet to a specific dollar amount reportedly.

The transition offense will also get a spark from the second unit now since the point guard depth is vast and Kornet spaces the floor while playing at the five. Per 100 possessions, Kornet averaged 1.7 steals and 2.6 blocks last season. He’s got a bright future as a valuable big man off the bench that the Bulls got for an absolute bargain.
