With the trade discussions between Oklahoma City Thunder and Chicago Bulls fans and media swirling for Russell Westbrook, how could this actually happen?

The idea keeps catching on for fans of the Chicago Bulls to do whatever they can to finally try and trade for a bona fide superstar with Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook coming available.

Russ has only ever played for the Thunder and imagining him in a different uniform is a hard concept to digest for a lot of NBA fans, specifically those in Oklahoma City. Yet, amid the major players to land Russ is a host of Eastern Conference teams that needed to land a star point guard for a while now. At least with the fans, the Bulls keep surfacing in that discussion.

Moreover, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and TV show “Get Up”, Russ “wanted out of OKC” before the Thunder even traded Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers last week. This talk of Russ becoming a locker room issue doesn’t seem to have much bearing with this report from ESPN in mind. But this should just add fuel to the fire with all the Russ trade rumors flailing around right now.

The original report that Westbrook “welcomed” a trade conversation with the Thunder this summer also came from ESPN and Woj. There is not a single name on the trade block right now that even comes close to matching the significance of Russ and the Thunder.

Big time Chicago Bulls podcasts like 670 The Score and “Locked on Bulls” keep discussing the idea of trading for Russell Westbrook, with different takes across the board.

Just to note, I am not in favor of a Chicago Bulls trade directly with the Thunder to get Russell Westbrook. But with the discussions happening each and every day now, let’s take a look at three trade packages that could play to the best benefit of both Chicago and OKC.
