The Chicago Bulls are looking to carry out the franchise’s winning legacy, and the CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” can teach them a lot about controlling the narrative of one’s life story. Here is a look at Bulls stars and what they can learn from the fictional characters of the popular sitcom.

It’s no secret the Chicago Bulls have a problem drawing in big-name free agents.

The glory days of Michael Jordan and company have long passed.

To make matters worse, the Bulls ended the 2018-2019 season with the fifth worst, all-time franchise record for most games lost in a single season.

The Bulls’ solution to this point, unfortunately, seems to be acquiring Washington Wizards stars to assume similar roles, if not the same ones previously held, this time in Chicago. New to the Bulls are Otto Porter Jr. and Tomas Satoransky, both of whom make for quiet roster moves—ones that didn’t work for the Wizards, but are otherwise changes the Bulls hope will make a difference.

If the Bulls front office had been watching “How I Met Your Mother” more closely, they would’ve noticed one of the common themes: That “insanity” is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

It appears the stakes are about as high, if not higher, for the Bulls to improve and return to relevancy in the league heading into the 2019-2020 season.

Not to mention the Bulls organization has realized a decline in local TV ratings, losses in season ticket holders and drops in home game attendance.

If “How I Met Your Mother” can narrow down its central message and teach the Bulls one thing, it’s that truth is stranger than fiction.

And, of course, there are many similarities and differences between Bulls stars and the fictional characters from “How I Met Your Mother.”

Let’s take a close look at Chicago Bulls stars and what they can learn from the fictional characters of “How I Met Your Mother.”
