The Chicago Bulls may have filled its need at the point guard position by drafting Coby White last month seventh overall in the first round. But for those who didn’t follow collegiate basketball closely, questions arise as to who he is. Here is a look at three things you need to know.

There is a lot to like about Chicago Bulls rookie Coby White, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

Born as Alec Jacoby White, he is a son of Donald and Bonita White. He has two siblings—a sister, Tia, and a brother, Will.

At 6-foot-5, White will provide a bit of speed and length at the point guard position, which is something the Bulls organization has been looking for. He’s a combo guard with the ability to play both on and off ball. White is projected to be a good fit for the Bulls, as they tried experimenting last season with multi-ball handler scenarios.

Not to mention White has connections to current and former Bulls. White shares the same agent as Kris Dunn, has met Michael Jordan and knows Wendell Carter Jr. from playing together in an AAU basketball program.

White averaged 16.1 points at the collegiate level for the Tar Heels, shooting 42.3 percent from the field, 35.3 percent from three-point territory and 80 percent from the free-throw line. White capped off his time at the University of North Carolina surpassing Jordan in the men’s basketball team’s all-time freshman scoring list.

Playing for Greenfield School, White averaged 31 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists during his senior year of high school. He went on to lead Greenfield School to a state championship appearance in 2018.

There is a lot more to know about White than what people may have seen on the hardwood.

Let’s take a close at three things you need to know about White.
