Small Forward

Starter: Otto Porter Jr.

Potentially the most overpaid quality small forward in the NBA, and definitely the most overpaid on the Chicago Bulls roster, is the former Wizards wing Otto Porter Jr. But Porter Jr. is well worth the money and cap hit for the Bulls comparatively to what they had between Bobby Portis and Jabari Parker before the Wizards trade was executed at the deadline.

Porter Jr. is solid on both ends of the floor and helps make everyone better when he’s on the floor. In his 15 games played with the Bulls at the back end of last season, Porter Jr. shot a wild 49 percent roughly from beyond the arc. He was also shooting better than 90 percent from the free-throw line.

Yes, the more than $26 million that Porter Jr. commands in base salary is too much compared to his actual production. But he is still amid the most underrated forwards in the NBA today. He was the only player for the Bulls last season that had a true shooting percentage better than 60.

The Bulls should continue to utilize Porter Jr. as a wing that can play more minutes, as long as he stays healthy, that can space the floor. Porter Jr. isn’t the most athletic or physically gifted of all the Bulls starters. But he could be the most efficient and best true shooter in the mix.
