Much like Thomas was with three different teams in the past two seasons, former Chicago Bulls point guard Rajon Rondo really found his way around the NBA. Rondo is a solid veteran presence in the locker room, and he had a rough tenure with the Bulls back during the 2016-17 campaign under former head coach Fred Hoiberg.
The way that the 33-year-old veteran Rondo commands the floor wherever he lands benefits any young players looking to progress in the locker room. He’s still a veteran presence that could provide a solid two-way guard that posts an insane assist percentage, usually above 40.
The problem with Rondo last time around with the Bulls was the clash with shooting guard Dwyane Wade and small forward Jimmy Butler in that crowded and confusing backcourt. The play on the hardwood for Rondo was no issue for the Bulls, but there were too many times where he was benched for younger sup bar point guards.
Current Chicago Bulls head coach Jim Boylen would do well to add Rondo to the locker room, especially if he’s willing to come to the Windy City on a bargain deal. He’s coming off a difficult tenure too with the Lakers and probably won’t be going back to Southern California next season.
