6. Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks made the best draft move in recent memory when they traded for Luka Doncic during the 2018 NBA Draft. I touched on it earlier (when discussing how the Suns made a mistake by passing on Luka), but Luka has as high of a ceiling as any youngster in the league. The kid simply gets it. He’s already a superstar, and he’s only going to go up from here.

Building around Doncic automatically makes the Mavericks one of the most promising teams of the future, but the Kristaps Porzingis trade they made in late January brings their ceiling to another level.

It’s unclear how long the Doncic and Porzingis duo will last, and to be fair, it’s unclear how successful it’ll be, but it’s hard to imagine it being anything other than extraordinary.

I mean, can you imagine the Mavs pick-and-rolling you to death with Luka and Kristaps? Yeesh.

If the Mavs can surround Doncic and Porzingis with the right pieces, they’ll likely be one of the most successful teams in the NBA for the next 5-10 years.
