June 22 saw the beginning of the third season of the BIG3, and there’s now eight former Chicago Bulls competing in the league this year.
The BIG3 started to catch on during the NBA offseason for the past two years, and now it just begun its third year in existence. The BIG3 began behind the efforts of hip hop icon and business mogul Ice Cube, NBA Hall-of-Famer Clyde Drexler, and co-founder Jeff Kwatinetz. There’s big names in this league across the board, including a handful of former Chicago Bulls players.
The rise of the BIG3 was one of the more interesting developments to transpire for the past two offseasons. This will be the third consecutive summer that the BIG3 will do a cross-country tour all over the United States. It will be at Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL, on Aug. 3 for Week 7 of the third season too.
Social media is also a mainstay of this league. The BIG3 is active on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and it even has its own app to track the games, highlights, scores, etc. The games themselves can be found on YouTube and live on CBS Sports this year.
The BIG3 debuted this year at Little Caesers Arena in Detroit, MI, on June 22. That was part of a two-game weekend that also featured a trip to Indianapolis, IN, on June 23. There will be 13 weeks of the BIG3 season this summer.
Before we focus on the best former Chicago Bulls that are playing in the BIG3 in its third season this year, let’s also take a look into the names that didn’t play for them that headline the rosters in this 3-on-3 summer league.
