5 2019 undrafted free agents the Chicago Bulls whiffed on
All of the NBA Draft prospects that ultimately went undrafted on this list have a certain degree of intrigue that come along with a signing with the Chicago Bulls. In the case of the former UCF Knights towering 7-foot-6 center Tacko Fall, it was worth the slight risk for the Bulls for even thinking of drafting or signing him.
When Fall proved that he could in fact hang with the game’s top talent both in the NCAA Tournament with UCF and at the NBA Combine, his draft stock rose pretty high. The thoughts that big market teams with easily excitable fan bases like the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers could take a second round shot on him didn’t pan out.
But Fall obviously has the physical tools to excel as an easy shot maker around the basket and a rim protector and rebounder down low on defense. The question marks lie with his speed and athleticism in every other area of the floor.
A promising sign from him in the case of the Boston Celtics, the team who signed him as an undrafted free agent, was how he played against Zion and Duke in the Round of 32 in the “Big Dance” this year. In a Round of 64 win over the VCU Rams, Fall nabbed an insane 18 rebounds, 5 blocks, and 13 points. Against Duke, he did foul out, but registered 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 blocks in the process.
