Chicago Bulls: Sekou Doumbouya draft workout thoughts
Sekou started his professional basketball career with Poitiers Basket 86 where he was figuring out his game. Poitiers Basket 86 was in the second tier of the French League.
During his first year playing professionally in France, he averaged 6.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 44.6 percent from the field. Solid numbers considering he’s 16-years-old playing pro basketball in another country he didn’t grow up in.
In his second and final season with the Poitiers Basket 86 team, Doumouya averaged 8.5 points per game, 4.1 rebounds, and 46 percent shooting at 17-years-old.
After Doumbouya joined Limonges for the 2018-19 season, he played much better competition and played in 27 games total.
Doumbouya averaged 7.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 48.2 percent shooting from field goal range in 19 minutes per game. Limonges is in the top tier of French basketball.
Doumbouya’s shooting touch and shot selection impressed this season as he averaged 34.3 percent from three, hitting 23-of-67 on the season, and 23-of-29 (79.3 percent) from the free throw line.
Doumbouya’s team made the Euro Cup and played eight games last season and he scored 55 points (6.9), grabbed 22 rebounds (2.8), seven steals (0.9) and 23-of-42 shooting (.548 )in the tournament.
His professional accolades include being a member of the French U-18 National Team and winning a gold medal at the 2016 European U-18 Championship.
