What does the giant trade deal that sent big man Anthony Davis to the Lakers from the Pelicans mean for the Chicago Bulls now?
By far the biggest transaction to transpire after the end of the 2018-19 regular season in the NBA thus far saw the former New Orleans Pelicans superstar big man Anthony Davis going to the Los Angeles Lakers to join forward LeBron James. With LeBron now getting that superstar he so desired to play alongside with the Lakers, how will this trade impact the rest of the NBA including the Chicago Bulls?
Before this trade deal went down on June 15, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN on his Twitter timeline, the Bulls looked to be involved on a trade deal with the Lakers and potentially the Pelicans. That trade deal could’ve involved the former Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball, but he is now going to join the Pelicans.
The other players involved in this Davis trade deal with the Lakers and Pelicans include former Duke wing Brandon Ingram and shooting guard Josh Hart. The Lakers also sent three first round picks, and the 2019 No. 4 overall pick, to the Pelicans just for that return that included AD.
There were other pieces from the Lakers involved in the trade talks beforehand. But this deal keeps the Bulls out of the talks, and also takes Lonzo off the board as a potential point guard option. That is unless the Pelicans decide to dish Lonzo out somewhere else.
Here’s a look into the three thoughts from the perspective of the Chicago Bulls after the trade deal that sent Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans to the Los Angeles Lakers for quite the hefty asset return.
