With rumors that the 76ers are not happy with Joel Embiid’s fit with Ben Simmons, it is possible that Philadelphia parts ways with the all-star guard this summer.

In what would be a blockbuster deal, the 76ers would haul in the 7th overall selection in this year’s draft along with two former top-ten picks. As great as Ben Simmons has been for Philadelphia, the team could look to find a player more complimentary to Joel Embiid. In addition, if the 76ers felt that Simmons was not an ideal fit, they could save themselves from getting in a sticky cap situation when it comes time to pay Simmons next summer.

As for Chicago, giving up this much could seem like a massive price to pay for a point guard who can’t shoot the basketball to save his life. However, Simmons is only 22 years old and has the potential to be a generational talent if he finds a jumper.

Even if he doesn’t ever learn to shoot, the Bulls would be acquiring an extremely young all star at a position of need. Chicago also acquires the 24th pick in the draft in this deal, which the team could use to take a big man to replace Wendell Carter.

This trade is a bit of a stretch for both teams, however this type of move could change the trajectory of this franchise from a perennial lottery team to a threat in the Eastern Conference. Building a championship team takes big risks, and this is one of those opportunities.
