Celtics’ GM Danny Ainge tends to be crafty and aggressive, which could prove true in the 2019 NBA draft with his three first round picks.

The shallowness of this draft has been very well documented, and if the Celtics are genuinely concerned about losing Kyrie Irving to free agency, they may want to trade up in order to get a star-caliber player such as Cam Reddish. Instead of drafting three players who will struggle to find minutes on a crowded Boston roster, the C’s would be wise to trade up in this draft.

The top teams in this draft are highly unlikely to trade back in this draft, making Chicago the best suitor for Boston’s offer. The Bulls surely could use a player such as Duke’s Reddish, but gaining three top-25 selections is something that would be hard to turn down for the rebuilding squad.

There are two different directions the Bulls could go with these three selections: they could use them to bolster their horrific bench or use some of them as part of a package to acquire a veteran point guard.

Either way, Bulls’ management may find it more beneficial to trade down in order to acquire a massive haul of picks rather than to take a player that is not worthy in their eyes of a top-ten pick.
