Just about the only thing Jared Dudley did for the Brooklyn Nets was get under Ben Simmons’ skin.
Making over $9.5 million in 2019, Jared Dudley simply does not do enough for the Nets to be shelled that type of money. With a competitive free agency period coming up, the Nets would love nothing more than to unload even more cap space at a low price of two second round selections.
In return, the Nets would receive a young and cheap scoring option in Antonio Blakeney and also another early second round selection compliments of the Memphis Grizzlies. With Denver’s 2020 pick unlikely to be a high pick, Brooklyn should not lose too much sleep in moving this pick if it means gaining even more cap space.
As for the Bulls, the team would have a large chunk of their free agent money taken out, yet walk away with the first pick in the second round of this year’s draft and another second round pick to add to their stash of draft capital.
Although this move is a bit less attractive than the move with New York, the Bulls could benefit greatly from this exchange if the team feels it will not be a player in free agency.
