The role Rajon Rondo fills for the Chicago Bulls

The need that we keep coming back to for the Chicago Bulls to fill this summer is to add a veteran point guard that can help to round out this rotation. Right now, the closest thing that the Bulls have to a veteran presence at point guard is Dunn. This is where the idea of acquiring Rajon Rondo comes into play for the Bulls.

Could the relationship between the Bulls coaching staff and front office worked out better with Rondo the first time around? Yes.

Could the relationship also improve with a much different looking coaching staff and locker room this time around? Yes.

The waiting game that is free agency for the Bulls and their fans generates a lot of questions as to how to best build the roster. What’s always good to have is all options on the table since this can be a very turbulent time for all 30 teams in the NBA.

Rondo is a great facilitator and remains as a top floor general in the NBA now. He’s like having a coach out on the floor to help command the offense. He can also thrive in part as a two-way point guard. Rondo is very smart positionally on defense and always had the ability to generate turnovers.

The most important factor that Rondo brings to the table is a plethora of knowledge and experience and the ability to lead by example. This young Bulls locker room could thrive around the low-risk and possibly low-cost free agency option that is Rondo.
