Chicago Bulls: Analyzing Rajon Rondo reacquisition theory
There’s a plethora of free agency point guard options for the Chicago Bulls. Is Rajon Rondo one of the better choices on the table?
Free agency will be an interesting ride for the Chicago Bulls this summer. The Bulls have a multitude of needs to address this off-season, and just a host of ways to upgrade a mostly hapless roster outside of the young core. That young core of power forward Lauri Markkanen, shooting guard Zach LaVine, center Wendell Carter Jr., etc. needs help mostly via the NBA Draft and this cycle of free agency. Is one piece worth considering, if all else fails, looking into the Los Angeles Lakers veteran point guard Rajon Rondo.
During his one year tenure with the Chicago Bulls back during the 2016-17 campaign, Rajon Rondo actually wasn’t too awful. If he could bring that production level back to the Bulls rotation, it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the word considering the small price tag he’s likely to come with. His tenure with superstar forward LeBron James and the Lakers didn’t go as planned either.
However, reigniting the connection between Rondo and the Bulls might be a worthy option this summer if there isn’t another obvious answer through the NBA Draft or free agent market. The two parties would just have to work past previous issues.
The way the tenure between Rondo and the Bulls ended in 2017 could still be patched up given the right circumstances in the Windy City this off-season.
Here’s a deeper look into why it could actually make sense for the Chicago Bulls to go after the Los Angeles Lakers veteran point guard Rajon Rondo this summer.
