Going back to the theme of improving depth, the 76ers get a first-round value player in Admiral Schofield. The ability to play three positions makes Schofield a valuable asset in today’s nearly positionless NBA. With back-to-back picks in the second round, the first selection is of great value.
Another potentially first-round value, the 76ers come away with another high-value selection. Talen Horton-Tucker, a Chicago-born prospect, is criminally undersized at the forward position, but is more likely to become a guard at the professional level. The only issue with taking Schofield and Horton-Tucker is that neither are phenomenal floor-spacers, which is a major need for the Sixers.
With no sufficient backup to Trae Young, the Hawks take Shamorie Ponds to be the first point off the bench. A very successful college and high school player, the only reason Ponds is not a first round-worthy selection is because he attended a mid-major school. It will be interesting to see how his NBA career pans out.
