Chicago Bulls 2019 Draft Profile: Shaw G Amir Hinton
Amir Hinton’s strengths
Of course, the knock on Hinton is the level of competition he’s faced. That’s a fair criticism to make, yet an obvious one. Hinton proved he could dominate that level of talent and the NBA is all about the ability to create your own shot.
Strengths
Hinton’s offensive numbers speak for themselves and his ability to create his own shot and knock down consistent mid-range jumpers will be his ticket to an NBA roster.
He averaged nearly 30 points, 48.8 percent shooting, and 89.4 percent from the free throw line in his final season. His ability to get the free throw line was unmatched in Division II as he put on a clinic during his final season.
Against East Stroudsburg Unversity he made 27-of-29 free throws, versus Virginia Union he was 29-of-32, and against Virginia State he nailed 19-of-22.
Hinton was asked to score so much at both schools that he never had the chance to showcase his rebounding or passing abilities, but he still managed to impress with 4.9 rebounds and 4 assists per game.
On the defensive end at 6-foot-5 and lengthy, Hinton is proved he can play on the perimeter as he averaged over two steals in all three seasons in college.
