Terry Rozier burned any bridges that he had left in Boston. Will the former Louisville Cardinal be a good fit with the Chicago Bulls core group of players?
This past season showed that Kris Dunn will not be the point guard of the future for the Chicago Bulls. With Dunn entering his last year on contract, the Bulls have started doing work on the upcoming free agent point guards. Terry Rozier has been one with rumored interest, but signing him would be a disaster for the Chicago Bulls.
In June 2016, the Chicago Bulls traded away former franchise star Derrick Rose. Since the trade of Rose, the Bulls have started Jerian Grant, Michael Carter-Williams, Kris Dunn, Cameron Payne, Walt Lemon Jr., Ryan Arcidiacono, and Shaquille Harrison.
Yeah, saying the point guard position is in flux would be an understatement. With Dunn looking to be on his way out, the Bulls have turned their attention to Terry Rozier as a potential answer at point guard. Terry Rozier, though he had an impressive 2018 playoff run, is not the answer at point guard.
Dunn was brought in to be the point guard of the future for the Bulls. After a so-so first season under Tom Thibodeau, – who notoriously doesn’t play rookies – Dunn was going to get every opportunity to play his game in Chicago. Well, injuries and a shift in offensive philosophy have left Dunn’s future up in the air.
Dunn talked with Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic In the interview, he spoke about how the firing of Fred Hoiberg changed his role in the offense. Despite the system change, Dunn’s diet for mid-range jumpers (2.6 attempts per game) and inability to make threes or get to the free throw line (1.5 attempts per game) is the perfect recipe for an inefficient offensive player in today’s NBA.
Dunn’s lack of improvement offensively is the primary reason the Chicago Bulls are looking to upgrade the position.
