Chicago Bulls: 3 reasons Chris Paul trade poses horrible idea
It looks as if the Chicago Bulls almost made a big mistake by trying to get Chris Paul from the Houston Rockets by sending out Lauri Markkanen.
As many of you should know by now, the Chicago Bulls reportedly tinkered around with the trade package that was sending valuable pieces to the Houston Rockets for overpaid veteran point guard Chris Paul.
The former Wake Forest Demon Deacons and New Orleans Hornets superstar Chris Paul didn’t put together his best campaign during the Rockets disappointing end to the 2019 NBA Playoffs. Paul and the Rockets were unable to work past the one-seed Golden State Warriors in the second round of the playoffs in the Western Conference.
The new supermax contract that players are eligible to receive over a longer span of time made it so that the Rockets could nab CP3 after a sign-and-trade deal with the Los Angeles Clippers. For two of the next three years, Paul is owed more than $40 million on his remaining contract deal.
There aren’t many veteran point guards in the NBA now that will take up as much cap space as Paul. He is a huge commitment, and might not be able to be moved on the trade market for anything more than a salary dump or a second round pick beyond the coming summer.
This trade rumor originally surfaced from the Twitter timeline of OnSMASH. It stated that the Chicago Bulls front office was “on the verge” of trading power forward Lauri Markkanen and point guard Kris Dunn to the Rockets for Chris Paul.
Here’s a look at three reasons why that trade idea for the Chicago Bulls for a return of Houston Rockets point guard Chris Paul was a horrible idea.
