This is once again a simple idea in concept, but probably very difficult to pull off in reality. The New York Knicks have little to no motivation to take a flier out on Kris Dunn. But the idea of Dunn landing with the Knicks could actually work out well. Dunn would take the backseat to former Dallas Mavericks lottery pick and point guard Dennis Smith Jr., and be utilized more as a strong defensive guard in the rotation.

If the Knicks get an expected big free agency haul this summer with at least one or two stars, adding Dunn could be a good move. Dunn needs the right situation to develop in and having veteran stars in the locker room around him could be the best factor for him.

You just have to assume that if the Knicks, Lakers, and Chicago Bulls are all in on the same trade framework that each team would be sending around draft picks. This just doesn’t have to be the case with the Bulls as the team with the most buy-in to this deal. The Knicks also get a future second round pick as additional incentive to take this deal.

The motivation for the Lakers is the fact that Lonzo Ball gets out of town and it also gets to stack picks with the seventh overall selection in this lottery. Replacing Lonzo will former Knicks lottery pick Frank Ntilikina is an intriguing idea since the pace would pickup dramatically for the Lakers with him running the point.
