Chicago Bulls: 4 ways Zion Williamson Draft immediately shifts rebuild
The prize that every lottery teams is chasing on May 14 is Duke’s Zion Williamson who could land with the Chicago Bulls at No. 1.
We will find out tomorrow night, May 14, whether the Chicago Bulls are able to land the game-changing prospect for the 2019 NBA Draft class, Duke Blue Devils superstar freshman forward Zion Williamson. This is the moment that the Chicago Bulls fan base had to be waiting for since about halfway through the 2018-19 regular season.
Zion is the player that every team in the draft lottery is vying for. Most teams would also love the chance to nab the former Murray State Racers point guard Ja Morant with the second overall pick in the draft. Morant and Williamson seemingly could do no wrong down the stretch for the 2018-19 college basketball regular season and on into the NCAA Tournament.
However, Zion is still the ultimate prize for the Bulls in this draft lottery. Despite the gaping need for a point guard, Zion is too talented for really any team to pass up. The Bulls are a good example of a team that needs to add to the position that Morant fills and doesn’t need immediate help where Zion would play, but it is still well worth taking the Duke forward first overall. The Bulls can’t afford to look elsewhere at this point of the rebuild.
The three teams that have the better odds than the Bulls to get the top overall pick are the Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks, and Cleveland Cavaliers. But, the edge between those three teams and the Bulls isn’t much.
Here’s a look into the four reasons why landing Zion Williamson in the 2019 NBA Draft would completely shift the picture of the direction of the Chicago Bulls franchise.
