2019 NBA Mock Draft: Pre-Draft Lottery night mock
Not many players in this draft embody the Brooklyn spirit quite like Naz Reid. In fact, he grew up just about 50 miles from the Barclay’s Center. Although still very raw, Reid posted 13.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per game in his one year at LSU.
Without any other glaring holes on the roster, the Nets can comfortably take a flyer here in the late first round on a guy with high potential like Reid. Even if there’s not a clear path for him to become a starter in Brooklyn, the Nets will need a strong rotation to help support their playoff pushes for years to come. If all goes well, Reid may have many opportunities to prove to the league he’s better than a bench warmer.
Ty Jerome just fits the Warriors system too well. With Shaun Livingston on the decline, Golden State will need someone who can support the bench and log significant minutes when Steph Curry needs rest.
Jerome is a strong floor general as well as an off-ball spot up shooter. Jerome’s high awareness on the court would do well for a team that’s known to run complex offensive schemes. With the Warriors’ primary focus this offseason on keeping the band together, grabbing a competent backup point guard at a late first-round price tag looks like a steal.
