Odds LeBron James actually hits the trade market
At the outset of the 2018 off-season, the odds that LeBron James would land with the Lakers seemed small. Most had the school of thought that he could re-sign with the Cavaliers, but that just wasn’t what LeBron felt was best for him at the time.
Yet, the resources and the young core of the Lakers didn’t do near enough to power LeBron into the playoffs. The question does arise in this situation, would LeBron get into the playoffs in the East with the Cavs if he stayed? An easier road to playoff contention in the East compared to the West with the Lakers would lead to believe that answer is yes.
Now, this scenario with the Lakers management and ownership finding all this reported turmoil with LeBron shouldn’t be major cause for concern in reality, but jumping ship in Cleveland for Los Angeles last year caught NBA fans by surprise too.
In reality, there’s no guarantee for any result, or anything close to it, when the Lakers are involved that stability will take hold. The chances that this all gets past a certain point with LeBron and the Lakers and the trade rumors heat up are always there. We can only wait and see how this plays out between “King James” and one of the NBA’s most storied franchises.
