6. Kris Dunn
This is the worst thing that could happen this offseason for the Chicago Bulls organization. Retaining Dunn shows a team treading water and banking on a 25-year-old point guard to make a giant leap next season.
Last season, Dunn was, for lack of a better word, unimpressive in his age-25 season.
On numbers alone, he wasn’t a total zero. While he appeared in only 43 games, he averaged 11.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 6 assists with a flimsy 45.8-percent true shooting percentage.
However, as the season progressed, head coach Jim Boylen implemented a duel ball handler system, which proved the Bulls offense moves better without Dunn directing traffic; even Arcidiacono fit that role better than Dunn.
If the Bulls roll out this strategy, it’s hard to envision them being any better than they were this season; essentially, it would be the tread water strategy.
While I do fear this outcome, I ultimately believe that GarPax will find a different name for this role. In all likelihood, Dunn begins the season on the bench for the Bulls or wearing a different team’s colors.
