If only the Chicago Bulls could decipher the code that is the coaching puzzle, instead of extending the former interim Jim Boylen.
If it wasn’t enough that the Chicago Bulls didn’t give any realistic shot at former head coach (currently with the Nebraska Cornhuskers) Fred Hoiberg to make this rebuild process work, the current head coach situation could be making it worse. It’s not the fault of the interim Chicago Bulls head coach Jim Boylen (at least during the regular season-post Hoiberg firing) that the front office could make the wrong move and give him the reported three-year contract extension that’s in the works.
However, what Jim Boylen could do for the Chicago Bulls that could make a positive change is instill a player focused atmosphere within the organization. It seemed like Jim Boylen didn’t have much focus on building a culture for the Chicago Bulls locker room with the connotation of advancing player interests.
The Chicago Bulls front office has to be partly to blame for this issue of not creating a positive atmosphere for players to thrive in lately. That dates back to the latter days under Tom Thibodeau too. Jim Boylen and Hoiberg just kept that going through the later years of this rebuild after the Derrick Rose era was over in the Windy City.
There are plenty of pieces that the Chicago Bulls should hang the hat on moving forward in this rebuilding process. The head coach is a key piece that the front office has to be weary of. This could be a big discussion for the Bulls for the next few years.
Here’s a deeper look into what happened with the Chicago Bulls head coach Jim Boylen in the past few months, and what the fan base’s outcry is in regards to his looming three-year contract extension.
