1. Oklahoma City Thunder
Landing with a contender is great for Derrick Rose, since he could use a few of his years that we would’ve previously considered his prime to make a deep run into the playoffs. Even in his days with the Chicago Bulls, Rose struggled to get deep into the playoffs in the Eastern Conference.
However, the Oklahoma City Thunder are in a good position to make a deep run in the West in the playoffs soon. It is pretty disappointing how the Thunder came out flat against the Trail Blazers in the first round of the playoffs so far. Yet, this is still a very talented team behind the direction of forward Paul George and point guard Russell Westbrook.
What would be so intriguing about the idea of Rose landing in Oklahoma City is the pairing with Westbrook. The two point guards that were easily the most explosive and athletic through the early 2010’s would be able to unite in the same city. Shams Charania of The Athletic reported last year that the Thunder were very interested in pursuing Rose too.
The Thunder could definitely use a slippery scorer that could get into the paint off the bench. Rose could be just that for a team that struggled mightily for any player to score in the paint this season. He could also be a low-cost option for a team that won’t have much cap space to work with as long as Russ and PG are hanging around.
