2. Memphis Grizzlies
A perfect landing spot for Derrick Rose, instead of a spot like the Chicago Bulls, is a small market team that doesn’t have much pressure on it at the moment that needs a veteran presence. That rhythm that he found in a low pressure atmosphere with the Timberwolves is a factor that Rose shouldn’t forget soon.
The Memphis Grizzlies could be without star veteran point guard Mike Conley next season, and the locker room will need a new floor general to build around. While Rose is likely not the guy for the Grizzlies to build around at point guard, he could be the veteran that mentors the new potential face of the franchise and rebuild.
Moreover, Rose would also contribute value to the Grizzlies in terms of bringing excitement off the bench in an otherwise slow moving offense. The Grizzlies like to wear down their opponents down low, and also play solid defensive basketball. Rose can thrive on both ends of the floor, but he would be a good spark plug off the bench that goes against the grain.
Best of all, the former Memphis Tigers All-American Rose would get to return to the city where he played his college hoops. Former Memphis head coach John Calipari got Rose to prominence for the 2008 NBA Draft for the Bulls way back in the day. The Grizzlies would be an interesting homecoming of sorts for Rose.
