Matched Zach LaVine Offer Sheet: 4 Years, $78 Million

In July of 2018, the Sacramento Kings signed Zach LaVine to an offer sheet which would pay him close to $20 million annually for the next four years. Coming off of a torn ACL and a far from impressive 24 games as a Bull, $78 million seemed like a stretch. However, the Bulls had a large obligation to match nearly whatever offer Zach was able to receive, as he was the centerpiece of the Jimmy Butler trade. Thus, the team matched the deal.

This deal appears to be a steal for Chicago. In 2018-2019, LaVine showed no signs of knee issues, as he averaged 23.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists and one steal on 46.7% shooting from the field and 37.4% from deep in 34.5 minutes per game. There was a very good argument for LaVine to receive his first All-Star selection, although he did not receive a nod. 2019-2020 should be another spectacular season for Zach, as the team is hopeful he can improve his distribution skills and his defense.

The LaVine deal appears to be a phenomenal one for the Bulls, as he has become the face of the franchise and is still only 24 years of age.
