How does Lonzo Ball fit with the Chicago Bulls?
If the Chicago Bulls could make the move to get a veteran point guard, or someone else in the 2019 NBA Draft, this summer then bringing in Lonzo Ball from the Lakers could work out. It’s hard to figure out where this scheme will be at next season, but Ball will likely need a depth player to go along with him in this rotation for the Bulls to be successful in 2019-20.
The main concern with Ball and his potential fit in the Windy City is what happens with current head coach Jim Boylen. Recent reports from the Chicago Sun Times indicate that the rumor that Boylen got a three-year contract extension could become more and more real as we move into the NBA off-season.
Boylen isn’t the most popular coach in the NBA by any stretch and Ball might not want to play for him over another building franchise like the Knicks. But, if his defensive prowess and outside shot can develop even further, his potential with the Bulls could be pretty intriguing.
What makes the idea of a former Lakers point guard so interesting for a team like the Bulls is the success that other former players from that franchise are having elsewhere. Point guard D’Angelo Russell broke out with the Brooklyn Nets this season and Julius Randle is having a big year with the New Orleans Pelicans.
