Would it be worth it?

We’ve dove a bit deeper on the subject of a Lonzo Ball-Chicago Bulls trade framework on Pippen Ain’t Easy before. Yet, this is a touchy scenario since the Bulls can’t afford to take an unnecessary risk that could put future assets in jeopardy. The Bulls seem like this rebuild could be reaching a point of playoff contention in the next two years.

However, the deeper subject here is how the Bulls would be able to put together a package in exchange for Ball. This deal that was in the works between the Bulls and Lakers likely involved a host of draft picks. This is not a situation where it would be worth it for the Bulls to give up too many draft picks for Ball.

The Bulls have a few pieces that it shouldn’t really offer up this summer, unless the deal is very intriguing and worth the return. Promising bigs like Wendell Carter Jr. and Lauri Markkanen along with shooting guard Zach LaVine are the most valuable assets the Bulls have at the moment. Potential intriguing trade chips would include wing Denzel Valentine, rookie Chandler Hutchison, and point guard Kris Dunn.

If the Bulls could get a return of a point guard that is just as competent, or even more so, than Dunn it would be an interesting move. Dunn isn’t working out thus far as the starting point guard for this Bulls franchise. Ball might not be the long-term solution either, but it’s worth a shot if the right deal comes along.
